Description:
Lava flows, fields, dykes, necks, domes, cones of the volcanoes of the Mediterranean Basin and of western Asia, unvegetated, occupied by usually discontinuous communities dominated by algae, lichens, notably [Stereocaulon vesubianum], or mosses, sometimes colonized by very sparse vascular plants.
