[Cistus laurifolius] maquis

Formations dominated by [Cistus laurifolius], often also of medium height, widespread on siliceous or decalcified soils in meso- and supra-Mediterranean Iberia and northwestern Africa, particularly in the [Quercus pyrenaica] realm, extending to the montane zone of the Pyrenees, and locally to sub-mediterranean areas of the southern Central Massif and the southwestern Alps.
